From our work in locked mental health facilities and community based mental health programs we have noticed a gap in services. We have laws that require "community integration" and yet we lack community programs to encourage individuals with disabilities to interact with people without disabilities in a fun and safe environment. We can all benefit from becoming friends with our neighbors and using our strengths to build healthier communities.
Advocacy Thru FAM is on a mission to become an innovative community organization that provides mindful and inclusive events to meet the diverse needs of San Diego County, with a focus on North County, specifically Escondido.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit!
FAM Festival
Our goal was to obtain 501(c)(3) non-profit status by 2020 so we could qualify for the non-profit rates to rent Escondido venues for our events. And then..Covid-19 hit.
We had plans to host a FAM Festival at Kit Carson Park Amphitheater and Skate Park in Fall 2020.
Since the pandemic started, a new skatepark has opened at Washington Park. We are pleased to once again start organizing local musicians, artists and food advocates to plan the FAM Festival in 2023.
